Festive Slow Food treats & 10,000 Gardens in Africa Raffle

10000_orti_milano_eng-700x385Join Slow Food Edinburgh at the market on Saturday 12th December 2015 for a warming toast to the festive season and a chance to take part in their raffle.

There will be a chance to win some Slow Food goodies and help them raise funds for their second garden as part of the Slow Food 10,000 Gardens in Africa Project – Creating 10,000 good, clean and fair food gardens in African schools and communities means not only raising awareness among young generations about the importance of food biodiversity and access to healthy, fresh food, but also training a network of leaders aware of the value of their land and their culture who can serve as protagonists for change and the continent’s future. On the first Saturday of every month, Slow Food run a stall at the market to promote the ‘Good, Clean and Fair’ message. Often, they’re joined by a local chef and cook up something simple and delicious, showcasing ingredients from the market.

IMG_4807-edited-forweb We’ve recently welcomed chefs from Coulston Cookery School, The Pantry and The Real Junk Food Project as well as from Gilmerton, Gracemount and Moredun Grow Stronger community projects.

If you’d like to present or cook at the Slow Food Edinburgh stall in the new year, please contact the Slow Food team.
