Falko announced as peoples choice for stallholder of the year

Essential Edinburgh is pleased to announce Falko Konditormeister as the Edinburgh Farmers’ Market Stallholder of the Year 2008. The competition, which was held throughout December and January, allowed members of the public to vote for their favourite producer and with the votes counted and verified, Falko has emerged as the winner for the fourth year in a row, with 18% of the votes.
Falko Konditormeister produces the unique tastes, textures and quality of the German Konditorei and Bäckerei using traditional handcrafted methods and natural ingredients to create fantastic cakes, breads and chocolates that change from season to season.
Hot on his heels were organic vegetable, fruit and dairy producers East Coast Organics, with 10% of the vote; venison farmers Fletchers of Auchtermuchty who received 8% of the vote; with honourable mentions also going to seafood experts Creelers, Puddledub Pork, organic porridge producers Stoats and notably Ballencrief Rare Pedigree Pigs, whose sausages were voted as the favourite product by the public.
Falko Konditormeister, said;
“It’s really rewarding to see the hard work of our team being recognised by visitors to the Farmers’ Market, especially up against so many excellent producers. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote and we will continue to provide the best produce that we can. We would encourage anyone who hasn’t visited the Market to come along and try the wide range of fresh and organic produce available.”

The Edinburgh Farmers’ Market, which takes place every Saturday year round from 9am to 2pm on Castle Terrace, enables the people of Edinburgh to experience, enjoy and buy locally produced food.
